That is why I put together an entire gift guide for those of you looking for inspiration for your own kids or ideas for what to gift someone else’s one year old.

I hope this post gives you some really goodย first birthday gift ideas!

first birthday gift ideas

Liv will be turning one on August 9th and her birthday party will be held the following weekend. I have compiled all of the ideas I had for her as well as some other ideas I would gift someone else’s one year old.

Some of the items below have already been bought to gift Liv (I will make note of that under each description) in case you were looking for inspo for what to buy her.

Obviously you don’t have to shop from this list, these are just ideas to help you if you’re looking to get her something but unsure of what to get her.

The Nugget | First Birthday Gift Ideas

I first heard about this from Liz Webber when she shared she bought this for her daughter’s play room. It’s pretty cool because you can move it around to make it into different shapes and love that it’s not a full on adult couch, but comfy spot for your kiddos to hang out on.

You can shop the nugget couch here.

Wooden Baby Name Puzzle | First Birthday Gift Ideas

Wooden Baby Name Puzzle | First Birthday Gift IdeasWooden Baby Name Puzzle | First Birthday Gift Ideas

This is such a great idea to help your kid learn their name before they start writing it. I also love puzzles because they’re such a great brain developmental activity.

This is probably one of my favorite first birthday gift ideas.

You can shop the personalized wooden name puzzle here on Etsy.

Lovevery The Babbler Play Kit | First Birthday Gift Ideas

I love the idea of toys that have a purpose. A lot of the Lovevery kits definitely help with children’s development depending on their age/skill level. They have so many different kits to choose from and come with toys that grow with your child.

The Babbler Play Kit is advertised for months 13, 14 and 15.

You can shop the Lovevery Babble Play Kit here.

Playhouse Tent | First Birthday Gift Ideas

This is another cute idea for their playroom or bedroom. I remember loving playing house or having some sort of tent to let my imagination run wild as a kid.

You can shop the playhouse play tent here.

Custom Anywhere Chair | First Birthday Gift Ideas

Custom Anywhere Chair | First Birthday Gift IdeasCustom Anywhere Chair | First Birthday Gift Ideas

This customizable chair from Pottery Barn is SO CUTE. Love that your little one can have a place to sit down and read, play or watch their favorite show from (if you’re into screen time).

I had to add this to the list of first birthday gift ideas because i feel like it’s about this age where they are able to sit in a chair on their own and can be used for a few years.

You can shop the customizable Pottery Barn Kids Anywhere Chair here.

Clothing

This one is a little tricky because every brand’s sizing runs different. Liv is definitely in need of some summer/fall clothing and she is fitting into 9-12 and 12 month clothing depending on the brand. I also feel like some mamas have personal preference when it comes to style/aesthetic and I, for the most part, are definitely one of those mamas and not ashamed of it either haha. I know so many others can relate!

I have found some really cute pieces from H&M, Baby Gap (they definitely have the cutest pieces IMO), Target, Carter’s, Kohl’s, Walmart is hit or miss, Minioli has some really cute pieces, Nordstrom, and more.

If you’re not sure about any of the other ideas I listed for first birthday gift ideas, you can never go wrong with clothes. Just make sure to include a gift receipt in case the clothing does not fit them.

This item is a little pricey but SO CUTE and something that could also be framed or used as decor in some way after they grow out of it or it is no longer in season.

You can shop this personalized sweater romper on Etsy here.

Montessori Climbing Set

Montessori Climbing SetMontessori Climbing Set

I LOVE this gift idea because it gives your baby/toddler the chance to explore, climb and just be a kid. They will be climbing everything anyway, so you might as well give them their own space to do it!

You can shop this Montessori Climbing Set here.

(PS if you’re not familiar with what Montessori is, here is a definition to give you some perspective:

Montessori is a method of education that isย based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative play. Its fundamental point is to empower the kids to settle on inventive decisions in their learning. Source.

Silicone Beach Toys Set

Silicone Beach Toys SetSilicone Beach Toys Set

This is another really cute idea for girls (they also have a blue one or beige if you’re shopping for a boy). But I love that it’s silicone instead of hard plastic which also means they’ll last longer and less of a hazard if they do end up breaking.

You can shop this exact beach toys set here (comes in different color options as well).

Baby Swing Chair

Baby Swing ChairBaby Swing Chair

My sister-in-law let me know she got this for Liv, and I think this is SO CUTE. It has little bear ears at the top and would go so great out back under our back porch for her to sit and swing in while we all hang out.

I was out on a walk with Liv a few weeks ago and saw something similar to this hanging under someone’s front porch which gave me the idea to add this to the list.

You can shop this exact baby swing here.

Bumbo Booster Seat

Bumbo Booster SeatBumbo Booster Seat

I love this idea because last month I was up the mountains at my parents’ mountain house and we used a different version of this chair but it was slightly too small for her chunky little legs. So I found this one and love that you can strap it to a chair. It says it’s good for ages 6-36 months so I think it would be the perfect size for Liv.

This is portable and great for bringing with to family functions and what not when you need a place to sit your baby and feed them, feed yourself, etc. And this would also work great for bringing out to eat at difference restaurants as well I would assume.

You can shop this exact Bumbo Booster Seat here.

OXO Tot Nest Booster Seat in Taupe

This is an alternative booster seat I found and I am thinking it might work better than the Bumbo, but I have not tried either so I cannot give an exact opinion on this. This is just another good idea if you’re looking for some sort of portable booster seat. The cushion on this one is removable and I love the color of this one.

You can shop this exact booster seat here.

Picnic Blanket

Picnic BlanketPicnic Blanket

This is such a great idea for sitting out in the yard on the grass or for sitting in a park, etc. to hangout, eat lunch, have a picnic or just play in the sun. Love that it folds up and is portable and comes with a strap to easily carry it around. This could also work great on the beach as well.

You can shop this exact blanket here.

Foam Play Mat Tiles

Foam Play Mat TilesFoam Play Mat Tiles

This is a must if you have a nursery, play room or kids’ bedroom with hard flooring. It also easily comes a part into multiple different tiles which would make it easy to maneuver from room to room as needed.

This is definitely something I need for Liv’s nursery.

You can shop these exact play mats here.

Montessori Helper Tower And Chair

Montessori Helper Tower And ChairMontessori Helper Tower And Chair

I have been eyeing a learning tower for a while now. Liv is about to be walking soon and I love that this one converts into a table and a chair which is also great for eating, drawing, coloring, doing puzzles, reading and any other activity she can do sitting down. I love that it also would give her her own sitting area.

You can shop this exact learning tower set here.

Montessori Wooden Garden

This is another really cute toy idea because it encourages learning. I am all about that. I feel like she would play with this forever.

Sprinkler Splash Pad

My mom got something similar to this from Costco for the mountain house and I think it’s such a great idea for kids/babies to cool off on on hot, summer days and play in.

You can shop this exact splash pad here.

Baby Walker Balance Bike

Baby Walker Balance BikeBaby Walker Balance Bike

This is another super cute gift idea I found from Bre Sheppard. It is a beginner baby bike to help them with learning the motor skills needed to walk and eventually ride their own bike. This does not come with peddles for this exact reason and is designed for ages 12-24 months. It’s kind of like a modern day baby walker I guess you could say?

It comes in multiple different colors but I could not decide which color I liked best in them image above so I included both. This is another great one to add to the list of first birthday gift ideas because this is going to prep them for when it comes time to upgrade to their very first official bike.

You can shop this exact bike here.

Baby Crocs With Cute Flower Shoe Charms

I found this exact idea from Liz Webber and was obsessed immediately! I always swore I’d never buy crocs for myself let alone my daughter but they’re beginning to grow on me.

You can shop the shoes here and the charms here.

Kids’ Water Table

Kids' Water TableKids' Water Table

This is actually the gift my parents got Liv for her birthday and I cannot wait to watch her play with it. You just add water and they play/splash in it for hours. This is obviously an outdoor play option.

This is perfect for first birthday gift ideas because it’s around this age where they are beginning to walk, stand and really explore on their own.

You can shop this exact table here.

That is it for this post. I hope this was helpful and gave you some ideas or inspiration for what to ask for for your one year old or some ideas of what to gift someone else’s one year old.

Excited to share more fun inspiration in my next blog post! (I have been trying to get a new blog post published every Thursday morning!) So stay tuned!
